DONATO MARTINEZ (ChicanX/LatinX/Zacatecano/Humano) was born on the dusty streets of a pueblo in Garcia de la Cadena, Zacatecas, Mexico. At the age of six, he immigrated with his family to Corona, California, and lived in the barrio streets of Home Gardens during the formative years of his life. He believes in storytelling, poetry, and music as healing and powerful remedies. And he has learned to appreciate the native ways by listening to the lessons and stories of his mother and father. He will pass these on to his children, Gabriel and Abigail.
